Some news and notes from the Adelaide Hills Amateur Radio Society with for the week commencing the 26th of April.
Our next technical session will be conducted on Saturday 2nd of May at the Blackwood Uniting Church. Nathan our vice-president is giving a presentation on Meshtastic and Meshcore systems that use LoRa for interconnection over longer distances than WiFi. These protocols have become very popular for amateurs exploring new digital techniques. After Nathan’s presentation we hope that those in attendance might share their thoughts on possible directions for the society. New members coming into the club are likely to have different interests from existing members.
The next general meeting of the society will be held on Thursday the 21st May at the Blackwood Uniting Church with doors opening at 7pm for a 7:30 start. A presentation on the outcomes of the Australian Band Plan Revision will be delivered by Grant Willis VK5GR the current chairperson of the WIA technical advisory committee. Grant who has been on the air since 1986 has had experience with just about every aspect of amateur radio so you can be assured of a good presentation.
The next Foundation licence training session will be conducted in Flinders St Adelaide on the 3rd of May. If you know anyone wanting to obtain their licence or take an upgrade exam please have them register their interest on the AHARS training page.
I am pleased to announce that a number of amateurs from several clubs have indicated that they have applied for registration as an ACMA assessor. The training schedule for the remainder of the year is looking busy so if you have an advanced licence and would like to become an assessor please contact me Paul via email vk5ph@wia.org.au or call me on 0418 803 177.
